Many parents locked the gate of Delhi Public School here today when Naib Tehsildar Raja Raminder Singh entered the examination centre accompanied by his daughter who was appearing for the AIPMT examination.
The gatekeepers at the examination centre opened the gate and allowed the entry of his vehicle inside the complex today morning. Certain parents, who knew the background that he was also a duty magistrate and on duty, objected to his entry closed the gate.
The Naib Tehsildar said he had been assigned the duty as the duty magistrate so he argued that he was moving around as a part of his examination duty assigned by the administration. He said he had gone just to drop his daughter. He said he was leaving the centre when he discovered that the gate had been blocked.
People raise slogans
An agitated parent said: “The gate was opened for the officer with his ward as if some VIP had come. Ethically speaking, he should have dropped his daughter on the gate and left. In first place, he should have opted out of the duty rooster by informing the administration. Such actions need strict administrative action.”
Taking an immediate cognizance of the public complaint, the district administration shifted the naib tehsildar from the examination duty. Jammed packed examination centres led to relatives blocking traffic on the roads at certain laces in the city.
Vehicles had to slow down or take a turn outside DAV College. The venue was also witness to salespersons of different coaching centres trying to impress parents.
