Bathinda, February 11

Parents of students studying in Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Canal Colony, protested the decision of changing the board from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) here on Monday.

There are more than 800 students are studying in the school and they belong to rural and urban areas of the district. The state government’s move to change the board has not gone down well with the parents.

Supneet Kaur, principal of the school, said, “Earlier, the school was running under a society and now, on the directions of the state government, it will be included in the Punjab School Education Board. Pre-nursery classes will take place from April 1 and the syllabus of the science stream will be as per the CBSE norms.”

The parents gathered in front of the school and demanded not to change the syllabus and board of the school. The parents said they would submit a memorandum of demands to the Deputy Commissioner.

According to the state government’s directions, three model schools and one Adarsh school have been merged in the PSEB in the district recently.

These schools were running under different societies and teachers were not getting salaries on time.
