“Punjabi cinema is evolving and the level of professionalism is parallel to that of Bollywood,” said actress Surveen Chawla, who was in the city today to promote her upcoming Punjabi film ‘Hero – Naam Yaad Rakhi’. Actor Jummy Shergill was also present at the promotional event.
Shergill said the film was the first in Punjabi cinema, to be shot fully abroad and is a romantic-thriller which puts in a different league than other Punjabi films. “Every film has a hero. But this hero, the character that I am playing in the film, is totally different. He is possessive, aggressive, romantic, sober and patient, all at the same time. The film is subject to give a new definition to romance and action in Punjabi cinema,” said Shergill, who is busy juggling Hindi and Punjabi films.
Surveen, who had grabbed eyeballs for her glam avatar in Hindi film ‘Hate Story 2’, is also enjoying working in both the industries and feels that now the atmosphere in Bollywood and Hindi film industry is the same.
“Punjabi cinema is evolving and the level of professionalism is matching to that of Bollywood. This film is a perfect example of that. The cinematography of this film is nothing less than a good banner Bollywood film. We have shot in one of the most beautiful locations of the West Coast. I had a great experience working with our director Baljit as he knows some of the most uncommon techniques of film-making,” she said.
The film has been directed by Baljit Singh Deo and produced by Ankit Vijan, Jatinder Punia and Navkiran Singh Dhaliwal. Other central characters have been played by Mukul Dev, Shivendra Mahal and Jaggi Singh.
The music of the film has been composed Jatinder Shah, Hitesh and Money Aujla. Veet Baljit and Inda Raikoti are the lyricists and the singers’ list includes Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Arif Lohar, Ankit, Sunidhi Chauhan, Diljit Dosanjh, Veet Baljit, Kamal, Altamash Faridi, Khushboo and Ikka.
