Pbi varsity hockey tourney begins

Punjabi University Inter-College Hockey Tournament started at Government Rajindra College Hockey Stadium here today.

Vijay Kumar, principal of the college, inaugurated the tournament.

Providing details of the tournament, Jagjiwan Kaur said in the second pool knock out matches played today Government Baljindra College Faridkot defeated Government College of Physical Education, Patiala 4-0.

In the third pool, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, beat Akal College of Physical Education, Mastuana Sahib, 4-0.

In the fourth pool, Deshbhagat College, Dhuri, beat Miri Piri Khalsa College, Bhadaur, Barnala, 5-0.

She said knock out matches will be played tomorrow. The first match would be played between Shaheed Udham Singh College and Rajindra College Bathinda. The second match would be played between ASBASJSM College Bela and Barjindra College, Faridkot. The winning teams of these matches would enter league stage of the competition and will face the teams of Deshbhagat College, Dhuri and Mata Gujri College.
