The Bathinda police today conducted a checking at the railway station and bus stand.
A joint team of security agencies, including the police, anti-terrorist squad, quick-response team, bomb disposal team, GRP, RPF and dog squad, started the checking at 7.30 am.
The team, led by DSP Sandeep Singh Mand, checked trains, parking lots, platforms, bags of passengers, tickets counters and other area of the railway station. However, nothing suspicious was found during the checking at the railway station.
At the bus stand, buses, along with two-wheelers parked at parking lots, were checked.
The police also conducted a checking at the Mittal Mall this evening.
According to sources, the Bathinda police conducted the checking in sensitive areas after the news related to some suspects were seen in Mumbai came.
The Bathinda railway station is the largest junction of the Northern Railway. Around 75 trains arrive at the railway station and close to 16 thousand passengers travelled daily. It is a sensitive railway station from the security point on view.
Close to 10,000 passengers visit the bus station every day.
DSP City Sandeep Singh Mand said, “It was a routine checking and was conducted on the orders of Senior Superintendent of Police Naveen Singla. We have checked all entry points, platforms and parking lots of the railway station. We have also conducted a checking at the bus stand. We will also conduct a regular checking in future also.”
The police also checked every vehicle at the entry points of the city.
