Bathinda, August 26

Owing to the peaceful situation in the city the PRTC bus depot, Bathinda, has decided to ply buses in the district.

This decision would come as a big relief for the residents as well as for the passengers who were stranded in the city due to curfew or tension after the verdict in Dera Sacha Sauda chief case.

All 165 buses would run on roads from tomorrow but the buses running toward Haryana will go only till the Punjab-Haryana border and will not enter Haryana till further orders.

It is also pertinent to mention that PRTC, which is already running in losses had faced a huge loss of around Rs 30 lakh as buses did not ply on road for last two days from Bathinda bus stand.

Yadvinder Singh, a passenger, said, “Thousands of passengers have stucked in the city, due to the tensed situation. But, now it will provide a huge relief, as the buses start plying in the district”.

Harish Garg, a city resident, said, “The authority concerned has to keep in mind that while ply the buses they have to deploy two Punjab police personnel in the buses to avoid any untoward incident during the journey”.

Jaskiran Kaur, another city resident, said, “Hopefully all the passengers who were stranded in the city will now reach their home safely. Moreover, it will also provide huge relief to the city residents”.

Surender Kumar, General Manager, PRTC, said, “Owing to the peaceful condition, we have decided to ply the buses, but our buses will not go beyond the Punjab border”.
