PRTC staff yet to get uniforms

Wearing of uniforms by the staff of the private bus operators and the Pepsu Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) still seems to be a distant dream.

A number of buses plying in the city without following the norms of the State Transportation department besides wearing the uniform, number of government and private buse drivers found talking on the mobile phone while driving the buses.

On being asked about wearing the uniforms, drivers and conductors alleged that they were yet to get uniforms and when their employers will provide the uniform, they shall wear them.

Moreover, a number of passengers say if the government bus drivers and conductors will wear the uniform then it will be very easy for them to identify the bus drivers and conductors.

On the other hand, PRTC General Manager Surender Singh said, that the PRTC does not have sufficient funds to provide uniform to the staff members, because of which the staff is not wearing the uniform over the many years.

Although the PRTC bus drivers and conductors which were on the contract bases are wearing the uniform according to the norms of the PRTC.

Managing Director PRTC Manjeet Singh Narang confirmed that over the past many years the PRTC hasn’t provide uniform to the bus conductors and drivers, but now we are going to provide them jackets with name badges.
