The PRTC is yet to facilitate the provision of uniform for its staff despite the fact that top PRTC officials had earlier stated that they would provide jackets to the staff in November. PRTC employees revealed that they had not got uniform from the authorities for the last about 10 years. A PRTC employee, pleading anonymity, said, “We want to wear the uniform so that common people know that we are PRTC officials.”

He said at times they ended up entering into a brawl with passengers when they went for surprise check for those travelling without tickets in PRTC buses, as they don’t wear the uniform. The authorities concerned should issue uniforms at the earliest to the staff, he added.

Surender Singh, general manager, PRTC, said, “The higher authorities were going to issue the uniforms along with the name badges, but till date we haven’t received any for reasons best known to them.”

Manjeet Singh Narang, managing director, PRTC, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts. Earlier, when Bathinda Tribune had highlighted the issue, Narang had stated that they would issue jackets to the staff from November 2017.
