Bathinda, January 18
It seems that the PRTC has fully geared up to boost its services, as it has now decided to gradually run the remaining 10 of the 20 Municipal Corporation (MC) mini buses in the city.
Ten buses were already plying on different city routes. Now, the PRTC has resumed the services of two more mini-buses while it plans to start plying three more buses by the month end, covering different parts of the city.
Earlier, PRTC was in a dilemma over running mini-buses in the city. The PRTC authorities were maintaining that plying mini buses in the city is proving to be a costly affair and they can stop the service at any point of time.
However, with the PRTC deciding to resume services of all 20 buses, the residents have heaved a sigh of relief.
Manpreet Singh, a city resident, said, “The state government should resolve the controversy surrounding mini bus service once and for all so that the common people do not face inconvenience. Whenever government and private mini bus operators enter into a dispute one of the two parties resort to strike and people are left to bear its brunt.”
He said the PRTC should resume services of the remaining mini buses at the earliest.
When contacted, Surender Singh, general manager, PRTC, confirmed that they have resumed services of two more mini buses in the city. Besides, by the end of this month they will start plying three more mini buses and gradually the remaining mini buses will also be seen running on the roads.
