Simarjit Kaur, president of the union, said, “While the teachers were protesting for their genuine demands, they were canecharged and many of them got injured as well. On one hand the state government had promised to distribute smart phones and provide jobs while on the other hand, it has been trying to snatch jobs from those who have it. We condemn the canecharge on the teachers. We demand that their demands must be fulfilled by the state government on a priority basis.”
