Bathinda, June 19

After a dust storm lashed the city last night, the region today witnessed heavy rainfall, which affected normal life.

Many trees were uprooted. Vehicles, electricity poles and unipoles were damaged.

Many roads were waterlogged and power supply was disrupted.

An Alto car was damaged after a tree fell on it at Tinkoni Chowk. Many trees were uprooted on GT Road, leading to blocking of the road at Kanhaiya Chowk.

The weather took a turn when clouds covered the sky in the evening and lightning began around 6:30 pm.

The sudden rain caught the commuters unawares. Although the monsoon is yet to set in, the early rain laid bare the chinks in the preparation of monsoon by the Municipal Corporation.

Commuters in Balla Ram Nagar, Civil Lines, Civil Station, Amrik Singh Road, North Estate, Dhobiana Road, Sirki Bazar, Mall Road, Shant Nagar, Ganesha Basti, Paras Ram Nagar, Mansa ROB and several other places had a tough time manoeuvering through waterlogged streets and roads.

Just after the rain, people were seen enjoying the cool weather on city roads.
