Students of Government Rajindra College, Bathinda, once again showcased their prowess after they lifted the overall trophy at the zonal youth festival which concluded yesterday. The festival was organised by Punjabi University, Patiala, at Gurukul College here over three days. The college secured 66 points to lift the trophy.
Officiating principal of the college Dr Sukhraj Singh appreciated the efforts made by the students and youth coordinator Amla Sharma and said such festivals helped in developing the overall personality of the students. He also congratulated the staff members who helped students prepare for various competitions at the festival.
The principal also gave away appreciation certificates and prizes to the students who won in various competitions. He stated that at the festival, in which students from 58 colleges participated, Government Rajindra College participated in 28 competitions and bagged the first position in eight contests, second place in six contests, third position in four competitions and the fourth position in three contests.
Participants from the college topped in quiz, folk orchestra, Western solo song, Western instrument, poster making, cartooning, photography, debate and best actress competitions. They bagged the second positions in gidda, Western group song, percussion, non-percussion, mimicry and classical dance.
The students bagged the third position in classical vocal, clay modelling, play and on the spot painting competition and fourth position in group song, skit and group shabad gayan competitions.
Prof Amla Sharma and vice-principal of the college Prof Ramesh Chander Pasrija also congratulated the students.
Also present were Dr Gurjit Singh Mann, Prof Sukhdev Singh, Prof Paramdeep Kaur, Prof Seema Gupta and Jasbir Singh.
