Raman Mandi gets bus stand with modern facilities

As per the demand of the residents of Raman Mandi, a modern bus stand has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.51 crore.

The chairman of the PRTC, Avtar Singh Brar, said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, on his visit to the Raman Mandi in July 2008, in the presence of the Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal, directed the pending demand of the people must be fulfilled.

He said a plan was made under which the PRTC took 12 canal and 5 marlas land of the Raman Mandi council on Bathinda-Dabwali Road on lease.

Brar said the required land was taken on nominal lease of 25 years. The work on the construction of the bus stand was started in April 2014 and nearly Rs 2.51 cr has been spent on it.

The Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated the project yesterday.

Winnerjit Singh Goldy, vice-chairman of the PRTC, said the bus stand had all modern facilities such as loading platform, different counters for boarding buses, PEB structures, counter boards, toilets for men, women and handicapped, entry-exit gate cycle, scooter, rickshaw and car parking spaces, separate ‘adda’ fees room, hotel, seven shops, enquiry office, waiting room/benches for passengers, office room, PCO, modern internal campus lights and fans.

He said in order to provide the best facilities to the people of Punjab, the PRTC had constructed bus stands at Amloh, Patran and Bassi Pathana.

Presently, the construction of modern bus stands at Faridkot and Sangrur is going on. The construction at Faridkot is almost completed and very soon the bus stand will be inaugurated. Around 60 per cent of the Sangrur project is complete.

Besides, the PRTC has launched 250 new buses and another 200 under the kilometer scheme (150 ordinary, 38 HVAC and 12 super integral coach buses).
