Punjab Power, New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar on Saturday distributed grants of Rs 40.60 lakh in six villages for the cleaning of ponds.
While speaking on the occasion, Kangar said during the rainy season, villagers face problems regarding ponds, due to which he has issued grants to resolve these problems.
For Bhodipur village, he has given a grant of Rs 6.50 lakh, for Siriawala village Rs 12.65 lakh, for Maluka Khurd village Rs 3.10 lakh, for Rajgarh village Rs 8.35 lakh, for Jalal village Rs 7 lakh and for Hakam Singh wala village he has given Rs 2.50 lakh. He assured that soon other villagers would also be given grants like this in the coming days.
He stated that under special project, water would be taken out from ponds by installed pipes. Apart from this Kangar also distributed water tankers to six villagers, this can be utilized by the villagers during marriages or any other occasion in the village.
Kangar has distributed these tankers in Gomti Kalan, Bhondipura, Jalal, Kangar, Sireawala and Dyalpura Bhaika villages.
Interacting with mediapersons on the question on panchayat elections, Kangar said the state government was committed to conducting these elections peacefully. He also appealed to the people to try to elected new panchayats unanimously.
Kangar also held a sangat darshan at Dyalpura village, where he listened to people’s grievances and tried to resolve them on the spot.
