SAD leaders, taking a strict note of registration of case against senior party leader and councillor Rajinder Singh Sidhu, on Wednesday called an emergency meeting.

SAD leaders and workers alleged that the case had been registered by the police under the influence of the Congress.

Addressing party workers, SAD leader and former MLA Sarup Chand Singla said registration of a case against Rajinder Singh Sidhu was a deep-rooted conspiracy.

He said it was a deliberated attempt by his opponents to tarnish Sidhu’s image as election of Singh Sabha Gurdwara were due to be held next year and Congress leaders, who are hungry for power, are eyeing to forcibly grab the religious bodies.

He alleged that before registering the case, the police had not conducted a forensic probe of the audio clip that went viral on the social media. No probe was conducted in the incident before registering a case, he added.

Instead, under a conspiracy, Rajinder Singh Sidhu was called at the Thermal police station and he was arrested within minutes of registration of a case, Singla said.

This clearly indicates that the Bathinda police have become a puppet in the hands of Congress leaders, Singla added.

Condemning the incident, Singla said the entire SAD leadership was standing behind Rajinder Singh Sidhu.

Even Sri Singh Sabha officiating president Bhai Sukhdev Singh said various educational institutes, under the leadership of Rajinder Singh Sidhu, are doing very well, due to which Congress leaders are eying to grab the Sri Singh Sabha management, he added.

“But we will not allow the rivals to succeed in their game plan at any cost. If we have to stage a protest for getting the case registered against Rajinder Singh Sidhu cancelled, we are read,” the former MLA said.

In this meeting, Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, SAD city president Sudhir Bansal and other leaders were present.
