Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, along with NGO members, on Monday collected samples of slime from the open drain near the Patiala railway crossing. The drain has been lying blocked, leading to waterlogging in Sirki Bazar.

On Saturday, Congress leader Anil Kumar Bhola asked MC officials to remove slush from the drain. Alleging negligence, Bhola said he had written to Finance Minister Manpreet Badal and the Mayor for an inquiry into the issue.

He had demanded that the MC should take samples of slime and get these tested in a hi-tech lab in Delhi. The Congress leader said with results of the test, it would be cleared that for how long the drain was blocked so that strict action could be taken against the erring officials for clearing the bills for desilting the drain.— TNS
