Sangat Mandi cluster defeated Talwandi Sabo cluster in a nail-biting national-style final to bag the kabaddi campionship (u-17 category) of the Inter-Zone District School Games, played at Government Rajindra College on Saturday. The players of Sangat Mandi managed to keep the point-scoring momentum intact till the end of the match, eventually winning it by a small margin of two points. The final scores were 24-22.
In the first semifinal, Maur Mandi defeated Goniana Mandi 43-25 while in the second semifinal, Talwandi Sabo defeated Maur Mandi 39-22. In a league match, Sangat Mandi defeated Goniana 53-8.
In circle-style kabaddi (u-19 category), Sangat Mandi defeated Mandi Kalan in the final. In circle-style kabaddi (u-17 category), Bhucho Mandi became the winner by defeating Bathinda in the final.
In cricket (u-19 category), Bathinda-1 defeated Bhucho Mandi in the final.
In the wrestling matches, played at Government Sports School, Ghudda, the Talwandi Sabo team won the overall championship by winning the final matches in all three age categories — u-14, u-17 and u-19.
