Bathinda, March 31
The District Bar Association (DBA), Bathinda, today demanded immediate shifting of the court of Divisional Commissioner from Faridkot to Bathinda in context of long travelling by residents of Mansa.
DBA president Guriqbal Chahal, accompanied by Rajan Garg, Sukhdarshan Sharma, RS Khattar, Ashok Gupta and other lawyers, submitted a memorandum addressed to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal through Deputy Commissioner Basant Garg today.
Chahal said those residing at the tail end villages of Mansa are the worst sufferers who fail to return from Faridkot in a day.
“They have to spend a night in Faridkot or Bathinda to return towards their village after getting their work done in the Court of Divisional Commissioner in Faridkot,” Chahal said.
He said not only people of Mansa but Bathinda residents also would get a respite by the shifting of the divisional court from Faridkot to Bathinda.
Moreover, the distance between the Ferozepur division, after the formation of the Faridkot division, has now reduced to mere 29 kilometers, whereas Bathinda district falls in the middle of the Faridkot division.
