Bathinda, October 1
Sikh preacher Harjinder Singh Manjhi and former Takth Damdama Sahib jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh on Monday announced to organise an event on October 14 to mark the anniversary of killing of the Sikhs who were protesting against the sacrilege incidents at Kotkapura. They will observe the occasion as ‘Lahnat Diwas’ against the Badals.
While addressing a press conference, Both Harjinder Singh Manjhi and Balwant Singh Nandgarh appealed to the Sikh community to reach in large numbers at the Light Chowk in Kotkapura to remember the incident and demand arrest of the accused.
They also alleged that the Badal family had captured the Shiromani Akali Dal, which was created with the blood of martyrs. They have held captive the highest organisation of the Sikhs, SGPC, and to set it free there is a need to make an attempt, they added.
The leaders also claimed that parties were playing politics over the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report and trying to befool the people.
They said resigning of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa from the party posts and senior SAD leaders of the Majha region holding a press conference clearly clarified the infighting in SAD.
Lashing out at Capt Amarinder Singh and Parkash Singh Badal, they alleged that to divert the attention of the public from the sacrilege incidents, both were organising rallies.
They claimed that it was sad that the Union Government had given the Union-ruled state status to Chandigarh and blighted the chances of the city representing Punjab, but both these parties did not issue any statement on the issue.
