Bathinda, May 9
The bi-weekly Shatabdi Express between Bathinda and New Delhi has been running on track for the last six months, but the name of the train does not figure in the time-table installed at the railway station.
Because of this, passengers coming from the nearby areas to board the trains are facing problems, as many passengers, after seeing the time-table at the railway station, think that the Shatabdi Express does not run from here.
Randeep Singh, a passenger standing on the platform, claimed that he does not know about the Shatabdi Express being run from here. He said that many times, while waiting for the train, he had read the time-table but there is no mention of any biweekly train going to Delhi in the evening at 4 pm.
Another passenger Sanjeev Kumar claimed that it is confusing and the railway authorities should add all the trains that are running in the time-table as it will benefit the passengers.
Mahinder Singh, a railway official who was standing near the time-table installed at the station, admitted that the Shatabdi Express has not been included in this time-table but said that it will be done. The Shatabdi Express was inaugurated with great fanfare by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on December 18 last year. The Shatabdi was earlier started in 2002 by the then Union Railway Minister Nitish Kumar, but it was discontinued within a fortnight due to poor response.
