Kisan mela on Sept 27
Bathinda:The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will organise Kisan Mela on September 27 at Regional Research Station, Dabwali Road, Bathinda. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana, will preside over the function. The arrangements being made for the fair were reviewed by Dr Paramjit Singh, Director, Regional Research Station, Bathinda. He said, “The motive behind organising the event is that we should not burn paddy stubble and save the environment.” “The seeds of improved varieties of different rabi crops, including new varieties of vegetable crops and fruit plants, recommended by the PAU will be sold on the occasion,” he added. The queries of farmers would be addressed by the experts on the occasion. Farm women would be provided technical know-how with respect to household activities. Freshers’ party
Bathinda: Students’ body of the Department of Architecture, Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), Bathinda, organised a freshers’ party, Benvenuto-2017, for the new batch of B Arch students at the open air theatre of the university today. The function commenced with the welcome address by student anchors and formal address by Mitakshi Sharma. The titles of ‘Mr and Miss Benvenuto’ were won by Gurnoor Singh and Diganggna. ‘Bello and Bellisima’ titles were secured by Paarasjot Hundaland and Navjot. ‘Mr and Miss Personalita’ titles were attained by Keshav and Jaswinder. The winners were felicitated with a gift and a sash by the guests. Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, was the chief guest on the occasion, while guests of honour, were Dr Jasbir Singh Hundal, Registrar, Dr Gursharan Singh, Campus Director and Dr RK Bansal, Dean, Students Welfare. Dr Ishar, in his address, highlighted the role of architects in shaping society. TNS
Donate extra food: DC
Bathinda: Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda, Diprava Lakra, today urged the residents that instead of throwing away extra food, they must donate it to an NGO, Feeding India, which distributed extra food from households and functions among the needy. Viren and Vikrant, volunteers of the NGO, said they run projects in 25 cities across the country and the main function of the NGO was to ensure that no one should go hungry. They told the Deputy Commissioner that the NGO had been working in the city for the past four months. They had distributed food to the needy in Kheta Singh Basti, Goniana Road, Dhobiana Basti, Dabwali Road and various hutments in the city. Besides Bathinda, the NGO also worked in Barnala, Moga, Talwandi Sabo, Malout and Gidderbaha.TNS
