Bathinda, February 5
Bathinda SSP Swapan Sharma today inspected the places where electronic voting machines (EVMs) of six constituencies of the district have been kept.
Apart from listening to the grievances of the paramilitary forces deputed to keep vigil till March 11, he also issued instructions regarding security of the place.
Police and paramilitary forces complained about lack of basic facilities, including drinking water and electricity.
The SSP gave them the official cell numbers of the persons concerned and assured to provide all facilities at the earliest.
He also directed the force to ensure that there should be only one entrance to the building.
Locks would be provided on priority basis for the doors of the building.
Only one person from a political party is allowed to visit the building.
It was categorically informed to the forces that the representatives of political parties couldn’t be changed.
The policemen and paramilitary forces have been directed to sign the entry and exit register every time they leave or enter the building.
“Even if a senior officer visits, he must be asked to sign the register every time he comes or leaves the place,” the SSP instructed.
Later, ADC Rahul Chaba also visited the place and enquired about the needs of the paramilitary forces. He assured that every basic requirement would be fulfilled by the district administration.
