Summer camps in government schools are proving to be beneficial for students to hone their skills in co-curricular activities. Notably, as many as 2,580 students are attending the camps in the district. These are being organised under the ‘Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab’ project.
Some teachers said the summer camps were giving a new look to the personality of the students.
“The camps are helping us to bring forth the hidden talent of students. They are learning folk art and many other things. Girls are learning about household activities, which are helpful for their holistic development. To make students aware of environment and current problems related to it, we are motivating students to go for ‘clean city, green city’,” said some teachers.
Malkit Singh, District Education Officer, Muktsar, said, “Summer camps are being conducted in 65 schools in the district and 265 teachers are performing their duties. Students are participating in various traditional games and are doing other activities, including painting and yoga.”
Kamalpreet Singh, district coordinator of the ‘Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab’ project, said, “Students are even giving a colorful look to government schools by with activities such as paper cutting, flower making and painting.”
Besides, the students are being taught some books that are not part of their syllabus.
