Despite having a busy schedule due to the Shahkot bypoll campaign and camping there for the last about 10 days, SAD leaders of Malout on Thursday did not forget to observe the seventh death anniversary of their favourite leader Bibi Surinder Kaur Badal.

Surinder Kaur, wife of former CM Parkash Singh Badal, passed away due to cancer in 2011. Since then, the SAD leadership of this small town always observed her death anniversary by holding an akhand paath ceremony in a local gurdwara.

“This time we were busy in the election campaign of our party candidate at Shahkot. Further, there was a programme of party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday at Shahkot, so it was not possible to come back to Malout to hold any religious programme. Then we decided to go to a gurdwara at Sultanpur Lodhi, where we performed an ardas in her memory,” said Harpreet Singh, ex-MLA, Malout.

Harpreet said, “Residents of Malout town were just like family members to Bibi Surinder Kaur Badal. She had brought a number of development projects to the town, so we people are always indebted to her.”
