To spread awareness among city residents, walls along the GT Road, including those of Government Rajindra College, MSD School and Multipurpose Sports Stadium, have been painted with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan slogans such as ‘Green City, Clean City, My dream City’, ‘Water is very precious, save it’.
XEN Sandeep Gupta said, “We were granted Rs 11 lakh for Information, Technical, Awareness and Communication (ITAC) under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.”
He said habits could be changed only by creating awareness and this was a way to sensitise the masses to major issues.
Gupta claimed that the authorities were getting positive response from the public as the slogans looked attractive.
He said another reason behind the drive was that now people would not paste posters on these walls and still if anyone did so then strict action against would be taken.
Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said making the city clean and green was their priority and they were working on it.
He said at first, they plated saplings, set up tree guards, stainless steel dustbins were installed in the city and now, they were painting walls with slogans as there was a need to sensitise the residents to cleanliness and sanitation.
