Bathinda, June 5
The state-run Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant (GHTP), Lehra Mohabbat, has been awarded by the Central Electricity Authority for its best performance.
Engineer KD Choudhary, chairman-cum-managing director and chief engineer SK Puri, received the award from Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Power and Coal, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, recently.
KD Choudhary said it was a matter of great pride that the GHTP made it through tough competition for the award for the year 2013-14 because of its best performance.
Chaudhary claimed that during the year 2013-14, GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat, generated 66,650 lakh units of electricity.
The plant heat rate remained 2,396 Kcal/KWh, which is less than the target of 2,500 Kcal/KWh fixed by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Also, its auxiliary power consumption remained 8.21 per cent, which is less than the target of 8.50 per cent. The oil consumption was 0.32 millilitre/KWh, far less than the fixed target of 1.0 millilitre/KWh.
The consumption of demineralised water for all the 4 units of the plant remained very low. All these helped the thermal plant in saving crores of rupees of the PSPCL as well as the country.
SK Puri, chief engineer of the GHTP, said the Unit No.1 and 4 of the plant ran continuously for 103.51 days and 123.47 days, respectively. The maintenance of Unit No. 4 was completed in only 14.69 days against the target of 20 days, which contributed an extra power generation of 318 lakh units to the kitty of the corporation. — TNS
