Three top police officials in Bathinda transferred

In a major reshuffle in the district police department today, the top three police officials in the district have been transferred. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bathinda Range, BK Bawa, has been transferred as IGP, IRB, Patiala. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mohnish Chawla has been transferred as DIG, Counter Intelligence and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Indermohan Singh Bhatti has been transferred as Commandant, 75 battalion PAP, Jalandhar.
In their place, Jatinder Kumar Jain has been appointed as IGP Bathinda zone, who was earlier posted as IGP Intelligence, Bathinda. Ranbir Singh Khatra has been appointed as DIG Bathinda Range, who was earlier posted at AIG Squad Vigilance Bureau and PPS Rajeshwar Singh has been appointed as SSP Bathinda, who was earlier posted as SP Headquarters at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (SBS Nagar).
Sources in the police department claimed that it is the outcome of the scenario that emerged after the damage to cotton crop in the region, which led to farmers’ agitation in the district followed by pesticides scam.
It is worth mentioning that it is the first time when all the three top police officials have been transferred together in the district.
IGP BK Bawa had remained in Bathinda as IGP for a period of just more than two months as he was transferred as IGP Bathinda Range on August 5 earlier this year.
DIG Mohnish Chawla had remained in Bathinda as DIG for more than eight months as he was transferred as DIG Bathinda zone on February 1, 2015. SSP Bathinda Indermohan Singh remained in Bathinda for a period of 10 months. — TNS
