In the meeting, they were told about the digital market model and their suggestions were also noted down.

The shopkeepers assured MCB officials for their co-operation in making the Ajit road a digital market.

They applauded the initiative of the MCB and said the MCB should not back out on this project.

Mice Plus Solutions Private Company MD Anil Thaman made a presentation and told about the vision of the project to the shopkeepers.

He said it was the vision of Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Municipal Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal to boost Bathinda’s name at the country level and they also wanted to boost tourism in the city.

Thaman said under the digital street scheme, two gates would be installed at both ends of the Ajit road and they would be beautified, where students can click selfies.

Apart from this, solar dustbins would be installed with mobile charging facility on these. Even shopkeepers can also display advertisements on these solar dustbins.

Digital display boards will be installed and nobody will be allowed to install hoardings in hazardous manners.

He also claimed that within 90 days, they would turn Ajit road into first digital street in the state.

It is also decided that CCTV cameras will be installed on the Ajit road for safety and monitoring on the road.

While giving suggestions, shopkeepers raised various issues. They claimed that problems such as wrong parking, traffic congestion and dangling wires must be addressed.

Sanyam Aggarwal said as the road was an education hub and it had a large number of education centres, they wanted that few stalls by vendors should be set up here.

He claimed that all suggestions given by the shopkeepers would be addressed and soon 11-member committee would be constituted from Ajit road shopkeepers, which would hold regular meetings with them.

In the meeting, Finance Minister’s media advisor Harjot Singh, Congress leaders Arun Wadhwan, Pawan Mani and others were present.
