Exhorting zero-budget farming, a city-based NGO organised a three-day long training camp on organic farming and kitchen gardening at Basant Vihar in city.
The camp was aimed at encouraging city residents to avoid using pesticides in farming and also encourage them to not use vegetables and fruits grown using insecticides/pesticides.
Sandeep Aggarwal, executive member of Art of Living, said to sensitise people regarding organic farming, Shailesh Kavi, an instructor from Sri Sri Agriculture Trust and Prabha, another instructor, conducted the seminar.
During the training, instructors taught how enzymes could be made from natural resources with cow dung, cow urine, neem tree and with peels of green vegetables. They said as there was absence of adequate space in the city, residents could grow vegetables and plants organically without using pesticides on their terrace as well.
They said this would improve our atmosphere which was the need of the hour. Participants were also shown successful models of organic farming in the city.
Participants were also apprised of all varieties of vegetables that could be grown at places where there are space constraints. NGO members also exhorted organic growing of wheat as it was effective in countering many diseases. They said people interested in organic farming would be provided all required assistance by them.
