Bathinda, November 21
A team of the Vigilance Bureau, Bathinda, laid a trap and caught a police personnel (summon staff) while taking a bribe of Rs5,000 in the city.
SSP (Vigilance Bureau) Varinder Singh Brar, in a press statement, said Jaswinder Walia had lent Rs2 lakh to Bikram Bala of Dhobiana Basti for domestic use. While returning the money, she gave him a cheque that was dishonoured. Following this, Jaswinder filed a case in the local court but Bikram Bala did not turn up for the hearing. The court then issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against her.
To arrest Bikram Bala and present her before the court, ASI Tejinder demanded Rs10,000 from Jaswinder, said Brar. The latter paid him Rs3,000. When the ASI again demanded Rs5,000 from the him, he registered a complaint with the VB. DSP Raj Kumar caught the ASI red-handed while accepting the bribe.
A case has been registered against the ASI in this regard.
