Ropar, April 1

Surpassing the target, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has generated 10,190 million units of power during the last fiscal ended yesterday. This is 8.12 per cent more than the target of 9,425 million units fixed by the Central Electricity Authority for the BBMB for financial year 2018-19.

Chairman, BBMB, DK Sharma, congratulating the employees, said this feat was achieved despite reduced inflows in the Sutlej and Beas as well as low water levels in BBMB reservoirs during the summer of 2018 and also during most of the filling season from May 21 to September 20, 2018. This had been possible due to judicious operation of reservoirs as well as efficient operation and maintenance of the generating units with one of the highest plant availability.

Cumulative machine availability of generating units of the BBMB during 2018-19 was 97.95 per cent, while the plant availability of Bhakra right bank power house was the highest with 99.98 per cent. Beside it, all six machines of Dehar Power House were in operation simultaneously, during peak hours in August 2018, after more than a decade, he said.
