“It is a matter of pride that Ludhiana has been selected as a centre for conducting the exam and it is a joint responsibility of all of us to ensure that the exam is conducted well, as UPSC has zero-tolerance approach in this regard,” she said.

The exam would be conducted at 31 centres in 21 schools and colleges on August 7. As this is the only district in the state where the exam is being conducted, candidates from all over the state would be coming here for the exam.

A centre, especially for visually impaired and physically handicapped candidates, has been made at PAU and 19 such candidates are expected to take the test at the centre.

The first paper would start at 9.30 am to 11.30 am, the second would be conducted from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

The schools and colleges were directed to keep their canteens open on the day so that candidates coming from outside can have lunch from the centres.

She said all schools and colleges must display flex-boards inside and outside the premises. Schools and colleges having diversions or similar names must ensure that the direction boards with UPSC exam written on those along with centre name and number as well should be at prominent places.

She said candidates must follow the instructions on the admit card strictly. Security would be beefed up at the centres and 350 police personnel would be deployed.
