Bomb hoax delays Jet flight to Gorakhpur by two hours
New Delhi, March 3
A Gorakhpur-bound Jet Airways plane with 55 passengers and four crew members was delayed by about two hours following a bomb threat call, which later turned out to be a hoax.
Jet Airways flight (9W-2467) from Delhi to Gorakhpur, operated by an ATR aircraft, was scheduled to depart at 1330 hours, but at around 1230 hours, the airline office received a phone call which said there was a bomb in the plane, sources said.
Following which the plane was taken to an isolation bay for a thorough check and cleared for take-off after nothing was found, they said.
The Delhi police also confirmed the “bomb threat” in a tweet on its official twitter handle.
“Due to a bomb call, Jet Airways flight 9W-2467 from Delhi to Gorakhpur will be delayed due to the ongoing checking process. All passengers safe (sic),” Delhi police tweeted.
The airline, in a statement, said its flight was delayed due to a security alert.
“The flight was scheduled to depart from Delhi to Gorakhpur at 1330 hrs and was delayed due to a security alert. The flight departed at 1515 hrs after security” said sources from the airlines. — PTI
School gets hoax bomb call
A call was made to the Modern School in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar area today about a bomb planted on its premises.
The school received the call at about 1.15 pm, according to the Delhi Fire Services. Fire department teams were sent to the school and
students and teachers were evacuated. Bomb disposal squads searched the premises.
At about 2.50 pm, the Delhi Police declared the call a hoax. The police are trying to trace the caller.
The police said the school received the call on one of its landlines. The authorities then informed the police. The school was locked down and students and staff evacuated through a gate.
“A bomb call was received regarding Modern School Vasant Vihar. All evacuated with help of teachers and students. Anti-sabotage check being undertaken to trace device if any. So far situation is normal (sic),” DCP (South Delhi) Prem Nath tweeted around 2.30 pm. — TNS
