After communicating to its over 70% subscribers using 2G and 3G technologies for the mobile phones to either shift to the Reliance Communications’ (RCom) 4G services or port out to another service provider, the ADAG-controlled company is set to close its Direct-to-Home (DTH) service as well.
The company has come out with advertisements in newspapers across the country, informing its customers of the restructuring within the RCom as a result of which the decision had been taken to shut down the Big DTH service.
RCom has also submitted a letter to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB) informing it that their DTH licence was expiring on November 18, 2017 and the company will not continue with DTH business further.
However, an RCom spokesperson said the company was making alternative arrangements for its Big DTH subscribers.
“DTH operations are a non-core area for RCom, and we are currently working with three leading DTH operators for seamless migration of our customers, for them to enjoy uninterrupted services,” the spokesperson said.
