Guwahati: The Assam Government is looking up to the Asian Development Bank (ABD) for a loan of Rs 400 crore to tackle the problem of urban flash floods in Guwahati city during the monsoon.

Guwahati Development Department (GDD) minister Himanta Bishwa Sarma said the Centre had also asked the ADB to provide funds to the state. A large part of Guwahati city, including the state capital complex, gets submerged in flash flood waters triggered by every spell of heavy downpour during the monsoon. The minister said separate plans for each ward would be prepared in consultation with residents to mitigate the problem.
