British Telecom has hired three graduate students from Baba Farid Group of Institutions at a recently conducted campus placement drive. Students of various streams of the college participated in the placement drive of British Telecom. BT Group plc (trading as BT and formerly British Telecom) is a holding company which owns British Telecommunications plc, a British multinational telecommunications company with headquarters in London. It has operations in around 180 countries and is the largest provider of fixed-line, mobile and broadband services in the UK.

BHEL awarded for strategic performance, HR excellence

BHEL has been adjudged as the best PSE in strategic performance, adoption of technological innovations and HR excellence among all state and central public sector enterprises by an independent jury for the Governance Now PSU Award 2018. The award was received by Atul Sobti, CMD, BHEL, from Mansukh Lal Mandaviya, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizers, and Krishna Raj, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at a function held in New Delhi.

Need strong laws, oversight to protect digital citizen: Nilekani

Aadhaar or any system of the type needs strong privacy and security laws and oversight, says Nandan Nilekani, non-executive chairman, Infosys and former Chairman of UIDAI. Nilekani made these observations in response to a concern expressed by Rahul Bajaj, Head of Bajaj Group of companies, who feared that a rogue government could make a citizen disappear by switching off one's Aadhaar-based legal existence and blocking the access to money, travel and public services. Nilekani and Bajaj were participating in a discussion on leadership in the age of disruption during the celebration of All India Management Association's 62nd foundation day, which is also observed as the National Management Day on February 21, across the country. Nilekani received the AIMA-JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award during the ceremony.

Top MNCs participate in HR conclave at LPU campus

LPU hosted an HR conclave under the theme "Driving Sustainable Growth in HR". It was for the first time that such a conclave was held on any Indian university campus. The conclave brought together a galaxy of distinguished professionals of the HR world to deliberate upon the need of transforming HR practices to meet emerging challenges by creating possibilities for the millenials. World renowned HR professionals from Google, IBM, HP, Oracle, Reliance Industries, Seagate Technologies and Capgemini were among 20 other companies who participated in the event.

Fiitjee Chandigarh centre’s student tops NTSE Stage-1

Students of Fiitjee's Chandigarh centre have done remarkably well by topping in NTSE Stage-1 results in the city. Both the Chandigarh toppers are students of Fiitjee. The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national level examination-cum-scholarship programme. Sabal Jain has been declared as Chandigarh topper and has scored 144 marks out of 150 while Maria Mathew has been bagged the second position. 

Maruti Super Carry bags CV of Year 2017 award

In the recently concluded CV annual awards for 2017, Maruti Suzuki's Super Carry LCV has bagged two prestigious awards. The first award was the "SCV of the Year-2017" followed by the "Commercial vehicle of the Year 2017".  The award was received by Ram Suresh Akella (VP-MS Channel) and Arun Arora (GM, Commercial and Rural Marketing), Maruti Suzuki. 

GGSCOP, Yamunanagar, bags NBA accreditation

Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy (GGSCOP), Yamunanagar, has become the first institute in the state to receive accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for its B. Pharmacy programme. The NBA is an autonomous body that periodically evaluates technical institutions and programmes according to specified norms and standards recommended by the AICTE council.

Entrepreneurship Summit organised by CII (Yi) 

CII's Young Indians (Yi) Himachal Chapter organised 'Entrepreneurship and Innovation Summit' with the theme 'Cultivate the Cult' at GGDSD College, Chandigarh, on February 26. Vivek Atray, author and motivational speaker, shared his insights with the budding entrepreneurs. He said: "Students need to learn from people who have already trodden the path of entrepreneurship and find inspiration from them. While carving a niche in the world of business and entrepreneurship, students must focus on the 3 I's viz. Inspiration, Innovation and Integrity."

J&K Bank accords warm send-off to its president

J&K Bank gave a warm send-off to one of its senior officers Nishi Baru, who retired on February 28 as president after serving the bank in different capacities for 35 years. Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed along with executive president Vagesh Chander, presidents PK Tikoo, Abdul Rashid Shegan, VPs and other senior officers attended the farewell. Nishi Baru was currently presiding over the bank's Supervision and Control Department.
