BSNL first firm to ring in Internet telephony service

New Delhi, July 11

State-run telecom operator BSNL on Wednesday became the first company to unveil internet telephony service in the country that will allow users to dial any telephone number in India through its mobile application.

Now BSNL customers will be able to make calls using the company’s mobile app “Wings” to any phone number in the country.

The service will enable mobile users to use landline network of BSNL for all their internet-based mobile operations, including video conferencing, video calling and all other activities.

After connecting landline network, no SIM is required for mobile operations.

Earlier, phone calls on mobile apps were possible within users of a particular app and not on telephone numbers.

The registration for this service will start this week and the services will be activated from July 25 onwards.
