A state task force (STF) of Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP)-cum-Continuing Medical Education (CME) was held at AIMSR, Bathinda, on February 16. Dr HN Singh, Civil Surgeon, Bathinda, was the guest of honour on the occasion. Dr Naresh Sharma, State TB officer, Punjab, and (Major) Dr Priyanka Aggarwal, WHO Consultant, were also present. Dr Sarit Sharma, STF Chairman, said the government was working on public-private partnership for the TB control in the country and AIMSR, Bathinda, was part of this mission. 

Mitsubishi AC distributor holds technical training seminar 

Kanwaljit Singh of Kanwal Enterprises, Amritsar, an authorised distributor of Mitsubishi heavy duty air conditioners, recently conducted a technical training seminar. Mitsubishi's all India service head Shailender Kumar was also present on the occasion. As many as 75 technicians from Amritsar, Batala, Pathankot, Jammu and Patiala were present in the seminar.

Capital Small Finance Bank achieves 100-branch milestone

Capital Small Finance Bank became the first small finance bank in India to start operations on April 24, 2016 with 47 branches. In a short span of 1 year and 10 months, 53 new branches have become operational, taking the total number of branches to 100. After establishing a strong footprint in Punjab, the bank has now started expansion in the states of Delhi and Haryana. The bank aims to open 250 branches by March 31, 2021.

Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, installs India’s first 3T iMRI 

Yashoda Hospitals Group, Hyderabad, has installed India's first 3T Intraoperative MRI (iMRI). This advanced iMRI has emerged as an important support for conducting brain tumour surgery more accurately. With this facility, surgeons at Yashoda Group of Hospitals have already conducted 100 complicated brain surgeries during the last couple of months.

BHEL receives Rs 1,034-crore captive power plant order

BHEL has won a Rs 1,034-crore contract for setting up a gas turbine-based captive power plant on Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK basis) under international competitive bidding. The order has been placed on BHEL by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for its Visakh Refinery expansion project at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. BHEL's scope of work in the contract envisages engineering, manufacture, supply, transportation, erection and commissioning and civil works of one gas turbine generator, one heat recovery steam generator and one steam turbine generator along with associated auxiliaries on LSTK basis.

Infosys hires three students from GNA University 

Students of Faculty of Computational Science, GNA University, set a benchmark by getting placed at Infosys during a placement drive held at SVIET, Banur. Out of 700 students, 43 students became eligible for the first round of online written test and four of them cleared it. Out of four, three were selected in the final interview and brought laurels to the GNA family. Pro Chancellor S Gurdeep Singh Sihra congratulated Rakesh Tiwari and Vishali of BCA and Anu from BSc-IT (Semester 6). 

Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, wins accolades by IAA

Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran has been adjudged as the 'Best Infrastructure College in Punjab' by the International Accrediting Authority (IAA) at the IAA Education India Awards & Summit 2018, organised at New Delhi recently. CGC was among the 58 shortlisted institutes which made the cut out of 2,000-plus nominated from across the country. Dr PN Hrisheekesha, Campus Director, CGC, Landran, and Dr Rajdeep Singh, Director Principal, CGC-College of Engineering, received the award. 

Mitacs ties up with SERB for research, training

Mitacs, a Canadian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to research and training, has announced a partnership with Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of India to expand research opportunities for Indian and Canadian graduate students with academic institutions and industrial partners in each country. The partnership was announced on the sidelines of the Canadian Prime Minister's state visit to India this week. As a part of this programme, students will take part in research internships in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, such as clean energy, cybersecurity, biotechnology, sustainable infrastructure, and nanotechnology. 

FCI organises ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ at Panchkula

The Food Corporation of India, Regional office, Panchkula, is organising ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’, a special cleanliness drive from February 16 to 28. Om Prakash, General Manager (Region) led the cleanliness drive in the surrounding areas of Regional Office. During the campaign, various events such as oath ceremony and mass rally etc were held to create awareness about cleanliness. An essay writing competition was also held on February 23.
