Six more states, including Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, will roll out the intra-state e-way bill system from April 20.
As per the decision of the GST Council, e-way bill system for all inter-state movement of goods has been rolled out from April 1.
As on April 15, e-way bill system for intra-state movement of goods has been rolled out in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
According to a Finance Ministry statement, e-way bills are getting generated successfully and till April 17, over 1.33 crore e-way bills have been successfully generated which includes more than six lakh bills generated for intra-state movement of goods.
In a staggered rollout, e-way bill system for intra-state movement of goods would be implemented from April 20 in six more states including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and Tripura.
“With the rollout of e-way bill system in these states, it is expected that trade and industry will be further facilitated in so far as the transport of goods is concerned, thereby eventually paving the way for a nationwide single e-way bill system”, the Finance Ministry said.
