Panasonic India launches more smartphones at retail stores

Panasonic India has announced the availability of its online exclusive smartphone range to customers across all its retail outlets in the country. Along with the recently launched P-100 (2GB), ElugaI9, Ray 500 & Ray 700 will make its way to the offline channels. The company had in December 2017 launched dual-camera Eluga Ray 500 smartphone across all retail outlets. The smartphones, which were exclusively available on Flipkart initially, will now be sold offline also.

Dr Harinder Bedi conducts rare surgery with 3D printing tech

In a perfect example of cutting-edge technology helping surgical skills, a 3D print of a rare and potentially fatal malformation helped in conducting a safe and a perfect surgery. Dr Harinder Singh Bedi, Chairman, Cardiac Sciences, Ludhiana Mediways Hospital, Ludhiana, conducted the successful surgery on 23-year-old Parwinder Singh who was having a bluish discoloration of his body since childhood along with shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with arterio-venous malformation (AVM) - a rare disease. The 3D printing is being done in Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, under Prof Rupinder Singh.

Lally Motors bags dealer of the year award

Lally Motors, having completed 20 years of its journey in automobile segment and present in 11 cities of Punjab, has been awarded with the dealer of the year award by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA). FADA is an apex national body representing approximately 9,000 automobile dealers of all brands across the country.

BSNL launches various plans to cater to customers’ needs

BSNL Chief General Manager Telecom (Punjab Circle) SK Gupta held a press conference in Chandigarh on March 8 regarding various schemes launched by it for its customers. In landline segment, it is providing connection at Rs 49 per month and broadband connection at Rs 249 per month. It has also introduced ASEEM Plan wherein a virtual landline is allotted and all incoming calls to this number are forwarded to a selected mobile number of BSNL or any other operator at just Rs 99 per year or Rs 199 per year. In mobile segment, BSNL is providing attractive packages for all classes of customers.

RECI, Phagwara, inks pact with Pacific Link College, Vancouver 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Ramgarhia Educational Council & Institutions (RECI), Phagwara, and Pacific Link College (PLC), Vancouver (Canada), during the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to India recently. It will facilitate holding of co-operative academic activities such as seminars, conferences, lectures, exchange of credits, faculty visits, student exchange programmes, exchange of publications and materials of common interest and exploration of common research interests among other things.

MRSPTU, Bathinda, holds lecture on ‘civil engineering softwares’ 

The Department of Civil Engineering, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, organised a lecture on "civil engineering softwares" for the students of 2016 batch by Gurpreet Singh, marking expert, and MS Kaushik, an ME expert from INFOWIZ, Bathinda.  They dwelled upon various kinds of softwares such as Auto CAD, Staad Pro, 3Ds MAX and Revit. Professor Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, lauded the efforts of the Department of Civil Engineering for organising the lecture.

Edupedia Overseas organises prize distribution function

Edupedia Overseas Pvt. Ltd., Amritsar, organised a prize distribution function on March 9 for its students studying medicine abroad. Company's chairman Dr KPS Sandhu presided over the function. As many as 200 parents were present during the function. Awards, trophies and certificates were also awarded to students for their performance.

Seema Gupta has assumed the charge of Director (Operations) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid). Prior to this, she was Executive Director (Northern Region-I) in the company. An engineer from Delhi College of Engineering, she holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IMT. She has been part of Powergrid management since its inception.

National Safety Day observed at IOC (Refineries Division)

He also called upon the need to continuously update and share health, safety and environment-related learning among all stakeholders to enhance safety standards.

Asian Cement Group launches ‘Duraton Cement’ in North

Asian Cement Group has launched its own flagship brand 'Duraton Cement' in North India. After manufacturing cement for other brands for the past three decades, the company has put up a 1.5 million-tonne-per-annum plant at Rajpura, Punjab, with an investment of Rs 400 crore.

Vodafone’s ‘Project Comfort’ extended to digital platform

Vodafone India has said its initiative 'Project Comfort' has been extended to the digital platform with the launch of Vodafone Comfort point map on International Women's Day. The digitisation of Vodafone 'Project Comfort' has been undertaken with a twin objective of easing access to safe and hygienic washroom facilities for women employees at Vodafone office, retail outlets and field jobs across Punjab, Himachal and J&K and facilitating feedback mechanism from them. 

BHEL wins Rs 11,700-crore contract in Jharkhand

Amid stiff international competitive bidding, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won a Rs 11,700-crore order for setting up a 3x800 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Jharkhand. The contract has been placed on BHEL by Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. in joint venture with Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited). This is the single largest order ever placed by NTPC or its subsidiaries and the second largest order ever won by BHEL.
