PFC to sanction Rs 55,000-cr loan this fiscal

State-run Power Finance Corp is looking to sanction loans worth Rs 55,000 crore in the ongoing fiscal and aiming to earn 14.5% return on net worth, as per a performance agreement with the Power Ministry. The PFC signed its performance related pact with the Ministry of Power for FY2016-17 on Thursday. PTI

EPFO’s voluntary pension scheme under study

The Labour Ministry is actively considering proposal of a voluntary pension scheme mooted by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), a senior government official has said. "We have devised a voluntary pension scheme for individuals where workers can put in money voluntarily which would be managed by EPFO," said, V P Joy, Central Provident Fund Commissioner. PTI

Jet in-flight mobile entertainment streaming

Jet Airways on Friday launched an in-flight entertainment service under the 'JetScreen' label that allows fliers to stream 220 hours of digital content on smartphones, tablets or laptops for free. The airline claims the service is a first in the industry for domestic carriers and comes close on the heels of the civil aviation ministry hinting at allowing onboard wi-fi access. PTI

DLF exits cinema biz, sells screens

Realty major DLF on Friday announced the sale of its remaining 7 screens of DT Cinemas in the national capital to Cinepolis India for nearly Rs 64 crore, thereby exiting the cinema exhibition business. It had in May entered into an amended agreement to sell its 32 screens of DT cinemas to multiplex operator PVR at a revised consideration of Rs 433 crore. PTI

Hyundai gets over 400 bookings for Elantra

Hyundai Motor India on Friday said it has received over 400 bookings for its premium sedan Elantra within eight days of its national launch on August 23. The all new Elantra, which is priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), received more than 405 bookings and 7,817 enquiries within eight days of its launch, Hyundai said.
