Punjab Agro Industrial Corporation, a nodal agency of the Punjab Government for the promotion of organic farming, has opened an 'Organic Hut' on the Madhya Marg in Sector 28, Chandigarh. It was inaugurated by KS Pannu, Managing Director, Punjab Agro Industrial Corporation, in the presence of farmers producing organic foods. Speaking on the occasion, Pannu said it will act as a platform for the farmers who produce certified organic foods and bring awareness to consumers of the tricity. He said Punjab Agro had been promoting organic farming in Punjab and only genuine farmers are certified to produce the organic crops. SGS, a global certification agency, grants the organic certification to farmers after following stringent procedure. The 'Organic Hut' will house certified organic basmati rice, organic whole wheat atta, organic cereals, organic pulses besides fresh vegetables, fruits and many other products from the certified organic farms. Farmers will bring their produce directly to the outlet and sell it to consumers.

Power Grid’s 765/400 KV substation inaugurated
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated Power Grid's 765/400 KV GIS substation and associated transmission system to the nation at a function held in Kanpur. To meet the growing power demand of Uttar Pradesh in general and Kanpur in particular, a high capacity 765/400kV, 3,000 MVA state-of-the-art Gas Insulated Substations (to minimise the land requirement) have been established. With this, reliable power supply to Kanpur area is ensured. The substation is strategically located in central UP and will act as a gateway for transfer of power from Eastern to Western part of the Northern Grid.
ONGC to buy 80% stake of GSPC in NELP-III Block
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) have been engaged in discussions on a potential transaction for purchase by ONGC of GSPC's stake and operatorship in NELP-III Block KG-OSN-2001/3 ("Block") in Krishna Godavari (KG) Basin. ONGC Board has approved the acquisition of entire 80% Participating Interest (PI) of GSPC along with operatorship rights, at a purchase consideration of $995.26 million for Deen Dayal West Field in the Block. GSPC has already built significant production facilities like well head platforms, process-cum- living quarter platform, onshore gas terminal, export pipeline for transporting treated well fluid from process platform to onshore terminal etc. ONGC shall also pay part consideration of $200 million to GSPC towards future consideration for six discoveries other than Deen Dayal West Field, which will be adjusted upon valuation of these discoveries subsequent to approval of their Field Development Plans by DGH/Management Committee of the Block. The transaction would be documented by signing a Farm-in Agreement with GSPC. Requisite approval from the government will be sought by the GSPC in accordance with provisions of Production Sharing Contract of the Block. The trial gas production from Deen Dayal West Field has already begun. Upon successful completion of the transaction, ONGC shall endeavour to bring the field on commercial production along with the existing partners in the Block.
