Astra Rafael Communication System, a joint venture between Astra Microwave Pvt Ltd. and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. of Israel, has recently inaugurated its state-of-the-art facility at Hardware Technology Park, Hyderabad. It was inaugurated by Minister of State (Home Affairs) G Kishan Reddy in the presence of Ron Malka, Ambassador of Israel to India.

Batra appointed senior vice-chairman of PMIDB

Senior Congress leader and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary Parmajit Singh Batra has been appointed senior vice-chairman of Punjab Medium Industry Development Board (PMIDB). He thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for appointing him senior vice-chairman of the Board.

Vardhman Special Steels in pact with Aichi Steel, Japan

Vardhman Special Steels Ltd., Ludhiana, has announced that Aichi Steel Corporation, Japan, will invest approximately Rs 500 million into the company and it will allot shares to Aichi Steel Corporation aggregating to approximately 11.40% of the share capital of Vardhman Special Steels (on a fully diluted basis). In addition, both companies have also signed a technical assistance agreement.

IRSDC, IRCON in tie-up for development of 12 stations

Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) and IRCON International Ltd. have signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) on “Railway Station Redevelopment” for redevelopment at 12 railway stations, including Ghaziabad, Yeshvantpur, Karnal and Thiruvananthapuram Central. Similar MoAs were signed with five other central public sector enterprises for the redevelopment at total 38 railway stations.

BHEL sets up chargers on Delhi-Chandigarh highway

BHEL is setting up a network of solar-based Electric Vehicle Charger (SEVC) on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway. Five charging stations in the series were recently inaugurated by Arvind Ganpat Sawant, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, in the presence of Dr Nalin Shinghal, chairman and managing director, BHEL. These are located at resorts of Haryana Tourism at Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat and Samalkha (Sonepat) on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway. 

PowerGrid holds 30th annual general meeting

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd organised its 30th annual general meeting at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, recently. K Sreekant, CMD, PowerGrid, addressed the stakeholders and apprised them of the latest developments and future plans of the company. He said, “The total dividend payout thus works out to Rs 8.33 per share as against Rs 5.25 per share as against the highest dividend ever declared by your company.”

Special tourist trains on Ramayana Circuit in Nov

Owing to successful runs of special tourist trains last year on the Ramayana Circuit, Indian Railways will again launch two tour packages on this circuit in November. The trains will be run by Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). These packages are part of ‘Bharat Darshan’ scheme of IRCTC. The first such train “Shri Ramayana Yatra” is scheduled to depart from Jaipur via Delhi on November 3. The other “Ramayana Express” will start from Indore in Madhya Pradesh via Varanasi from November 18.

NFL organises blood donation camp on 46th foundation day

National Fertilizers Limited, Panipat, recently organised social events, including blood donation camp and tree plantation drive on the occasion of its 46th foundation day. Ms Sumedha Arora and Sunil Arora, CGM, NFL, Panipat, inaugurated all events. All the programmes were attended by senior officers and employees along with their family members. In total, 59 donors donated blood during the camp.

Punjab committed to supply 24-hr power supply: Preneet

The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, is committed to provide 24-hour uninterrupted power to all consumers of the state. This was stated by Patiala MP Preneet Kaur after inaugurating 66 kV sub- station at Thapar University, Patiala, recently.

Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) has again been ranked 7th pan-India for filing 58 patents in a single year by the Indian Patent Office, which is administered by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, Trademarks and Geographical Indications (CGPDTM), Government of India. The college has made a mark by filing over 150 patents till now with more in the pipeline. 

Infosys Foundation invites applications for awards 

Infosys Foundation has announced the launch of second edition of the Aarohan Social Innovation Awards, renewing its focus towards accelerating innovation in India's social sector. The Foundation has committed up to Rs 1.5 crore towards the awards, along with an opportunity for residential technical mentorship at IIT Hyderabad for up to 12 weeks. The awards will accept submissions across six categories — healthcare, rural development, destitute care, women's safety & empowerment, education & sports and sustainability. The applications for nominations can be filed till September 30.
