Snapdeal today launched Shopo — a zero commission mobile-based marketplace where individuals can become sellers.
Shopo, an open marketplace, brings a combination of chat and commerce to the consumer on their smartphones.
At present, less than 0.1% of the small and medium businesses (SMBs) in India have online presence, and shopo is trying to address this opportunity by creating a platform which is easy and convenient for the shop owners to set up their shop, it said.
Shopo takes zero commission, zero fee and single step easy listing. Individuals can become sellers at the click of a button and start selling their products ranging from cupcakes to pickles to handmade toys to utility products.
The company said through Shopo, shop owners can chat and sell to prospective customers, interact with buyers and choose a mutually convenient mode of transaction as well as delivery.
Kunal Bahl, co-founder and CEO of Snapdeal, said, “We are building the most impactful digital commerce ecosystem in the country and are committed to make the experience convenient, efficient and mutually rewarding for consumers and sellers. Mobile is one of the key drivers fuelling the growth of e-commerce in the country”.
