“During 2013-14, the software exports from Hyderabad stood at Rs 57,000 crore. This year, we will touch Rs 63,000-Rs 64,000 crore in total IT exports, if 13% growth is achieved,” Telangana IT, Electronics and Communications Secretary Harpreet Singh said today.

Despite political uncertainty for several years over the Telangana statehood and fears over flight of capital following division of Andhra Pradesh, the city has been able to sustain a steady growth in the IT sector. It is estimated that about 3.2 lakh people are working in the IT sector.

“We expect another 20,000 to join during this fiscal,” he said while announcing the the 23rd edition of Annual Summit and Awards of Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association, which will be held on March 11 and March 12 here.
