TI Cycles of India, a part of the Murugappa Group, will inaugurate its state-of-the-art bicycle manufacturing factory at Rajpura tomorrow. The plant has been built with a capital expenditure of Rs 105 crore and has the capacity to manufacture 2.50 lakh cycles per month.
This is the company’s fourth plant in India. Currently, the company has manufacturing units at Chennai, Nasik and Noida. The combined capacity of all the four plants is 65 lakh bicycles per annum. The company manufacturers bicycle under the brand name BSA, Hercules, Montra, Roadeo, Mach City and Ladybird etc.
Apart from contributing to the development of the ancillary industry in Punjab, this will also offer employment opportunities (both direct and indirect) to around 3,000 persons.
TII chairman MM Murugappan said, “This is our second investment in Punjab. We already have a factory manufacturing tubes in Mohali which is running successfully. This plant will cater to the demand of bicycles in the North and Eastern parts of India.”
