Telecom giant Verizon Communications Inc on Tuesday said it would buy AOL Inc in a deal valued at about $4.4 billion. The offer of $50 per share is a premium of 17.4% to AOL’s Monday close of $42.59. The transaction will be completed this summer and will take the form of a tender offer followed by a merger, after which AOL will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Verizon, the company said. — Reuters
