Varsity student selected for Singapore centre

Amritsar: A multinational company, ValuerHR E-Solutions Private Ltd, Chandigarh, has established an R&D and Data Analytics Centre at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) with an objective to impart a lifetime skill in trading financial markets. Under its placement programme, the company selected one university student, Mahinder Pal Shori (MBA FYIC third semester) for two weeks training at Singapore office of ValeurHR. The expenses for his stay and training will be borne by the company. He will get real time exposure in forex trading. Similarly, the company had also selected another 10 students as student intern under the R&D and Data Analytics Centre Programme. These students are being paid Rs 10,000 monthly stipend during their stay at the university. Sudhir Singh, chief product officer, ValuerHR E-Solutions Private Ltd, appreciated the performance of students, specially Mahinder Pal Shori, in a special meeting attended by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Ajaib Singh Brar, Dr Palwinder Singh, prof-in-charge (placement), Dr Bikramjeet Singh Mann, head of the Department of University Business School, and Dr Amit Chopra, assistant placement officer. The VC said the company would provide free internship to students. Those students, who will perform well during internships, will be directly hired by the company, he added. Brar said such type of selections would be useful for MBA students and help them to build career. He said many more such activities for different courses were in the pipeline.

All India Inter-University Track Cycling (MW) C’ship

Guru Nanak Dev University will organise the All India Inter-University Track Cycling (MW) Championship from November 16 to 19 at velodrome on the varsity campus. “More than 50 teams comprising 450 cyclists from different universities from over the country will participate in the championship,” said Dr HS Randhawa, deputy director, sports, and head of the department.

Zonal co-curricular contests conclude

The three-day zonal-level co-curricular competitions concluded at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mall Road, recently. Under the folk dance category, first place was bagged by the ludd team of Mall Road school. In giddha, first position went to Prim Roses School, second to the host school and MS Gate School was placed third. In poem recitation and declamation contest the second position was bagged by Priya Shubhneet from Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mall Road. In the junior category, the host school again got first positions in solo dance and giddha competitions. The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Mohali, organised the competitons with an aim of overall development of students, besides inculcating creative interests in them. Students from various government schools of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran and Pathankot took part in competitions to show their talents in fields of declamation, poem recitation, general knowledge, besides luddi and giddha folk dances. Rajinder Chouhan, co-ordinator, PSEB Vidyak Mukable, was the chief guest on the occasion. While distributing prizes to winners, Chouhan highlighted the importance of such competitions, which he said played a vital role in grooming talents and helped students connect with their culture. Host school Principal Mandeep Kaur congratulated the winners. The event was planned by Jatinder Kaur and the stage was jointly managed by Kawal Inder Kaur and Mandeep Kaur. Meanwhile, Ramanpreet Kaur, Manjot Kaur and Balwinder Kaur judged participants of various competitions. — TNS
