Union Minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal hit back at Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in a series of tweets last night, alleging that he was trying to befool people of Punjab in the guise of a “true Sikh” who “didn’t have time to welcome” the Nagar Kirtan from Nankana Sahib to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Harsimrat tweeted, “Captain Amarinder Singh made his first visit to Sultanpur Lodhi now, that too after getting reports of SAD volunteers performing sewa of painting the holy city white. Just 60 days left for Parkash Purb, but nothing has been done by the government.”

“The CM calls himself a ‘true Sikh’, but doesn’t have the time to welcome Guru Sahib from Nankana Sahib on arrival in Punjab.”

She also targeted the CM over the Bargari sacrilege probe, stating, “Why are you now running away from the Supreme Court-monitored probe which you yourself had demanded in 2015? It’s clear that your objective isn’t to solve the issue, but only to politicise a sentimental issue of the Sikhs.” — TNS
