12,908 appear for PU-CET (PG)

As many as 12,908 candidates appeared for the PU-CET (PG) held today. 

As compared to last year, there is a marginal fall in the number of applicants seeking admission to the PU’s postgraduate courses. Last year, the university received a total of 15, 548 applications, of which 14,067 appeared for the exam, while it received 14,233 applications for admission to 50 PG courses this year.

In the second and final phase of the exam, which was conducted at 15 centres (11 on the PU campus, two at Ludhiana and one each at Hoshiarpur and Muktsar) today, 9,937 candidates marked their attendance.

When it comes to the most-coveted and least-coveted courses at the varsity, there has not been a slight change in the academic trends.

Majority appeared 

for MSc (Chemistry) 

A majority of candidates applied for MSc (Chemistry) (Hons), which is a two-year course, this year. The trend has not wavered from last year. While this year, the course received 1,796 applications, of which 1,706 students appeared for the exam, last year, 2,286 candidates applied for the course and 2,182 appeared for it.

Least applications for MTech (Polymer)

With just four applicants, MTech (Polymer) received the least number of applications this year with only two applicants appearing for the exam. While seven candidates applied for ME (Electrical Engineering) (Instrumentation and Control), ME (Chemical with specialisation in Environmental Engg) received nine applications this year.

Last year too, MTech (Polymer) received the least number of applications with only seven candidates applying for the course. While ME (Electrical Engineering) (Instrumentation and Control) received 12 applications, ME (Chemical with specialisation in Environmental Engg) received 14.
